The Cherokee Indians were once the dominant power in what is now the Southeastern United States. Today they recognize their native tongue as a powerful vessel of knowledge, lore and identity, even as the number of speakers dwindles. This Emmy award winning film tells the story of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and their fight to preserve a language and culture that predates the United States by thousands of years.
